Will Security Screens Make My Home Darker?

No, it won’t.

We use a mesh made out of stainless steel. It uses each strand is what we call a 0.035 diameter strand. So it's a thick strand, and we make a tight weave, which is a 12 x 12 weave per square inch. Now that tight weave right there keeps the mosquitoes out. That's what we want. We don't want anything coming in.

And the fact that we use that thick wire makes everything really strong. And that's how we can guarantee that no one's ever going to break into it.

So one of the common questions is, "Well, I get that. So does that mean my room is going to get really dark?" And the answer's no. It will be a shade darker. It's just like when you take your ordinary screens off your home to clean the glass, you take that screen off, and you look out your window and you're like, "Oh my goodness, it looks like there's no screen there."

And it's true. There's no screen. Same thing when you put this on, you'll notice that that screen is on there, but once it's up there for a day, you don't notice it anymore. And the good news is you can see out very easily. And the good news is that it will reduce the UV coming into the home, the harmful UV up to 65%.

So the first and most important application of our security doors and security screens is to keep the bad guys out. But the added bonus is it'll keep mosquitoes out too. An added bonus on top of that is it'll keep that harmful UV out. So high-end solar screens will filter out about 90% of that harmful solar energy, UV, ours 65%. So it's not quite a high-end solar screen, but it gets the job done. And you'll notice a drop in your AC bill in the summertimes for these areas like Nevada and Arizona, where that sun can just be brutal.

Bottom line: Our security screens keep the bad guys out…from zombies to mosquitos…without sacrificing the view!
