What Are Window Security Screens & Security Doors Made Out Of?

Most security doors and window security screens are made from some combination of steel, aluminum and/or a metal alloy.

The security doors you might typically find at a Home Depot or Lowes, for example, are made from steel. The frames are steel and the ‘mesh’ is perforated steel.

Steel doors tend to be less expensive, but as you can imagine, in the world of security, you get what you pay for. Take a look at the video below. The steel door is very easy to breach.

Our security screens, on the other hand, are made from building grade, extruded aluminum. It’s the same material used to build airplanes and rockets! The downside is it costs more, but the upside is you get a lighter weight solution that is actually stronger than steel.

And aluminum looks better on the home. Because aluminum is easier to work with, we can actually do more with it - like rounding the edges of the frames to give it a more attractive design.

Our security doors also come with a true 3-point locking mechanism. All three locks are operated from a single turn of the nob when you’re inside your home. All three locks also lock from the outside when your lock up your home when leaving.

The mesh is also super critical. Many companies use a cheaper wire that’s good for stopping golf balls, but won’t keep the bad guys out. Our mesh is made from top-grade 304 stainless steel. Each wire in the mesh has a .035 diameter, so our wire is thicker (stronger!) than their .028 diameter wire. We also have a 12x12 weaver per square in (again, stronger!) than their 10x10 weave per sq inch. The bottom line is: Thicker wire and higher density wire is more expensive, but so much stronger than the rest.

When it comes to security and your life is on the line, you definitely don’t want to do cheap. Spend the money and get the best solution you can afford.
